Alberta’s auto insurance system is not working for the 3 million drivers across the province. Premiums have been increasing and consumers have little choice in ways to keep their auto insurance affordable.

We know there is a long list of things to worry about in Alberta right now; auto insurance shouldn’t be one of them. That’s why the insurance industry is working with the Government of Alberta to fix the system and ensure premiums are affordable for drivers, while offering choice and care when they need it.

For this to happen, changes are needed to control claims costs and legal fees. We encourage all groups, regardless of what stake they have in the auto insurance system, to work with the government to develop outcomes that will make auto insurance affordable. Alberta’s drivers deserve nothing less.

Alberta Auto Insurance Facts was created by Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) – the national industry association representing Canada’s private home, auto and business insurers – to help drivers better understand and navigate the difficult auto insurance market in Alberta.
